IRCTC gives nod to snacks from Sabarmati jail

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will be sourcing snacks and tea kits from the Sabarmati jail kitchen to be given to passengers traveling by the Rajdhani Express.

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will be sourcing snacks and tea kits from the Sabarmati jail kitchen to be given to passengers traveling by the Rajdhani Express. The IRCTC committee, which visited the jail kitchen at Ahmedabad on Friday to ascertain the capacity of the jail kitchen, has given the go ahead for the said items for now and will decide on sourcing more products if the orders are fulfilled satisfactorily.

According to Sajid Sayyed of J.S. Ventures, the organiastion that has been working with Sabarmati jail and IRCTC under various CSR initiatives said that the IRCTC panel comprising five officials visited the jail and inspected the jail kitchen and sampled the products being made there.

“After being satisfied with the inspection and samples, the committee met B.S. Jebalia, inspector general (prisons), Gujarat and jail superintendent Sunil Joshi and proposed sourcing munchies, light snacks and tea kits, which will be packed by the jail kitchen on a daily basis,” said Mr Sayyed.
