Kandivali woman hangs self to death
A 39-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging herself in her house at Mahavir Nagar, Kandivali (west). The police is investigating the case but, in the meantime, has registered it as an accidental death.
The woman, Saptami Belal, a resident of G Wing 501 of Nisarg Building hung herself from the fan with the help of her dupatta. The police said it did not find a suicide note. The body has been sent for autopsy. The incident occurred between 12.30 and 3pm when Saptami was home alone while her husband, Sameer, had gone to the temple with his 20-year-old daughter and 14-year-old son. On returning home, Sameer found the door of his flat locked. As he did not have the keys, he called a key maker and got a duplicate key made, after which he unlocked the door and entered his flat. Seeing the bedroom door locked, he managed to open the door with another key only to find his wife hanging from the ceiling fan.
Preliminary inquiry has revealed that Saptami was worried about her children’s studies and she was very particular about their academic performance.
