After the arrest of a doctor for murdering five women and a man and dumping their bodies in his farmhouse, the Satara police will look into whether or not the accused was also involved in an organ donation racket.

The Satara police on August 11 nabbed a doctor identified as Dr Sandeep Pol. The police say he has confessed to having killed five women and a man. “While we are interrogating him for the murders, we have reason to believe that he may have indulged in selling the organs of his victims,” said an officer from Wai police station.

Sandeep Patil, superintendent of police, Satara, confirmed the same and revealed that the officers would rely on forensic analysis of the bodies. “All the exhumed bodies are badly decomposed. This means that an autopsy won’t reveal much. We will perform a forensic analysis on the body and use deeper investigation methods to confirm the same,” Mr Patil said.

He added that the doctors from BJ Medical College would be conducting the investigation of the bodies. “A team of doctors and forensic analysts are heading to Wai and will begin investigations in the matter,” said an officer from Wai.

He added that they would even check whether or not the doctor had made any suspicious transactions.
