List lacunae in Jiah Khan probe: Bombay HC
The Bombay high court on Monday asked Rabia Khan, mother of late Bollywood actress Jiah Khan, to give a list of alleged lacunae in the CBI investigation into her daughter’s death so that it could seek clarification from the agency on these points.
The division bench headed by Justice Naresh H. Patil also asked Rabia Khan to furnish the said list in three weeks while extending a stay on trial against actor Sooraj Pancholi who is facing charges of abetment of suicide in the case. Rabia Khan, in her petition, alleged that she strongly suspected that Jiah was murdered and the crime branch and CBI did not conduct a proper probe and hence, it should be handed over to a special investigation team (SIT).
According to Rabia Khan, some of the holes in the investigation include the fact that the investigation agency did not check Jiah’s BBM messages on mobile phone and did not consider the distance between the ceiling and floor and that there was nothing that Jiah could climb on to for reaching the ceiling and hanging herself. Rabia Khan claimed that Jiah was very happy a day before she died. Jiah’s sister was with her in the morning and she did not notice any signs of nervousness.
