Local body polls to be held on November 19: EC
Ending all speculation, the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday announced elections to six local authority constituencies in the Legislative Council that will be held on November 19. The term of the six sitting MLCs is due to expire on December 5 this year.
The six local authority constituencies that will go to polls include Sangli-Satara, Bhandara-Gondia, Yavatmal, Pune, Nanded and Jalgaon. The ECI has announced that the model code of conduct would apply to these districts.
As per the election schedule, the last date for lisitng nominations is November 2, the scrutiny of nomination papers would be taken up on November 3, the last date for the withdrawal of nomination papers is November 5, while polling will be held on November 19 and the counting of votes will be taken up on November 22.
