With over 220 diverse events, Mood Indigo – IIT-B’s annual festival — kicked off on a high note on Friday. Led by a team of 800 students, the fest’s first day saw a plethora of events. Mood Indigo took its visitors to an amazing vacation away from their regular life with their theme “A Hawaiian Escapade”. With beach balls adorning the pathway leading to the institute, visitors were all set for some Hawaiian fun. Day one started with The War of the Fashionistas: The models presented a breathtaking sight in their fashion forward and unique dresses. The event saw a huge turnout at the Convocation Hall.

Bestselling author Ashwin Sanghi provided a much-lauded start to the Litfest event, speaking about his journey from a Marwari businessman to a writer. The author gave an appreciative audience tips to write and connect myths with history.

Justice Markandey Katju lived up to his reputation by voicing his explosive opinions on several issues, including Section 377. The evening also witnessed visitors queuing up for the Pronite that was opened by SPUNK. This was followed by Shaan’s performance of several of Kishore Kumar’s hits.

The highlight of Day Two was a panel discussion. A serpentine queue outside the Convocation Hall made it evident that the panel discussion with Bollywood directors Ramesh Sippy, Rajkumar Hirani and Anurag Kashyap would be “houseful”. They spoke about the evolution of Hindi cinema and how technology is an important medium of connecting with the youth today. The students applauded Anurag Kashyap when he said that he knows most of his films are downloaded on torrents and that students are his biggest audience. Day Two also witnessed a performance by the band Parikrama and Lucky Ali.
