Maharashtra CM, Uddhav seal it with a selfie at event
That “Make in Maharashtra” is an event meant to attract business and investment did not stop chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray from indulging in a show of politics while sharing the stage for a discussion.
Barely two days after slamming the event in party mouthpiece Saamana, Mr Thackeray, on Monday, praised the CM for all the hard work that has gone into it. Not to be left behind, the CM felicitated industries minister and Sena leader Subhash Desai for signing MoUs worth Rs 6 lakh crore. As if that wasn’t enough, Mr Fadnavis went on to take a selfie of Mr Thackeray and him on his phone at the Maharashtra Magnetic exhibition stall.
Mr Thackeray, who was invited to conclude the Mumbai session, extended full party support to the BJP-led government for development of Mumbai and the state. “Sena is with you in the development of Maharashtra and Mumbai. You do the coastal road project and use latest technology so that it will be useful for the coming two generations. At the same time, keep open spaces for the city to breathe. Sena will cooperate with the government in all development works,” he said.
Mr Thackeray enjoyed a grand entry at the event complete with traditional tutari music and slogans praising Sena and late party supremo, Balasaheb Thackeray. Interestingly, Mayor Snehal Amberkar, who was also present, delivered her opening address in English but after Mr Thackeray’s arrival, instantly shifted to Marathi. Even Mr Desai, who has spoken in English at many events, spoke in the native language in presence of Mr Thackeray. The CM too followed suit.
Mr Thackeray said that the event was well organised. The Sena chief extended support to state schemes like Dharavi redevelopment, affordable housing and so on and gave suggestions for the schemes to benefit people to the fullest. Sena workers were seen discussing how Make in India has brought together both alliance partners.
