A youth lost his life and two others were injured after getting electrocuted in Parel on Friday.
Hitesh Aashad (38), Uday Jathey (22) and Mehul Aashad (25) were at a bus stop to which a person employed with a bar had tied a lantern.
According to sources, a live wire came in contact with the bus stop. Hitesh, who was seated at the time, lost his life.
Uday and Mehul, whose condition is critical, are being treated at Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation-run KEM Hospital.
Speaking to The Asian Age on the condition of anonymity, a senior medical officer at KEM Hospital said, “Hitesh was brought to us with 85 per cent burns. Mehul and Uday were standing at the bus stop so they were not injured as seriously as their friend.
“Hitesh couldn’t make it and he passed away in the morning,” the medical officer further said, Senior police inspector Tanaji Surulkar said, “We have registered the case under Section 304 (A) of the Indian Penal Code (Causing death by negligence) against one Nagraj Shetty, a bar employee who unknowingly tied a wire to the bus stop.
“The current had passed through its metal frame and caused the casualty,” Mr Surulkar further added.
“We are also taking the help of the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply & Transport to verify the exact cause of the mishap,” Mr Surulkar said.
