After initially not making the detailed project reports (DPRs) of the approved Metro corridors in the city available in the public domain and asking for Rs 20,000 for a soft copy of the reports concerned with a Right To Information (RTI) plea filed by The Asian Age, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has finally made the project reports available for public viewing.

This newspaper had reported on October 17, 2016 how the MMRDA had not made the DPRs public. The reports are now available for the public to access the same in the library of the MMRDA during its working hours. The RTI filed also questioned why the approved reports were not available in the library.

“The DPRs were made available in the library a few days ago and the public can access the same during working hours on weekdays,” said the librarian concerned.

The Asian Age, in an RTI application dated August 27, had sought soft copies of the DPRs of three Metro corridors — namely Dahisar-DN Nagar Metro-2A corridor, Dahisar east-Andheri east Metro-7 corridor and the Wadala-Thane-Kasarvadavali Metro-4 corridor — approved by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, who also heads the development authority.

However, despite making the reports available for the public, the MMRDA is firm on charging Rs 20,000 for a soft copy of the report.
