MSRDC to appoint consultants for redevelopment of its headquarter

In order to have a swanky office, Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) will soon float tenders for appointing consultants for redeveloping its 35,000 square metres of its headquarter

In order to have a swanky office, Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) will soon float tenders for appointing consultants for redeveloping its 35,000 square metres of its headquarter building located at Napean Sea Road in South Mumbai.

“The role of the consultants will be to guide MSRDC on how can its land be given to a private developer who will construct a new building for MSRDC. In exchange, the private developer will be given a part of the land which can be commercially utilised by it for constructing residential or commercial complex,” said a MSRDC official.

Currently, MSRDC officials are operating from its site office constructed for the construction of Bandra-Worli Sealink at Bandra Reclamation. The officials claim that with increased in number of projects the site office at Bandra is also becoming insufficient.

“We are having daily meetings with various international private and government agencies for funding of the Mumbai-Nagpur expressway and other projects for which there is huge space crunch,” said the official.

“We are expecting the private developers should construct at least 2,0000 lakh sq ft built up area for the new building. Also, we have 23 land parcels on Mumbai-Pune expressway and we plan to adopt the same model there. The private developers will build the office for us on these land parcels and in exchange, they can utilise a part of the plot commercially,” added the MSRDC official.
