Colleges affiliated to the University of Mumbai are in a state of confusion regarding the commencement of the admission process for its first year degree courses as the university is yet to start the Pre-Admission Online Registration (PAOR) which is a pre-requisite for admissions to any degree course under the university. The university has said that as the vendor who will oversee the online registration process is not finalised yet, but the same is expected to begin in the second week of June.

Speaking about the problem of the undue delay in starting the PAOR, the principal of a college from the western suburbs said, “The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) declared the HSC results on May 25. Students and their parents were eager to confirm admissions in colleges for further education immediately. But, it seems the university was napping and had no coordination with the board. After the results were announced, the university said that it has invited proposals from vendors to conduct the PAOR. This delay is causing unnecessary problems for not only the students and parents, but even for colleges, who are inundated with inquiries as to when the admissions will begin,” said the principal.
