NGO applies to cops for FIR against Dolly Bindra
The president of an Andheri-based NGO has submitted an application at Versova police station, demanding that an FIR be filed against Dolly Bindra and an employee of Kokilaben Hospital for allowing Ms Bindra to take a photograph and video with Pratyusha Banerjee’s dead body.
Officials from the NGO, Sangharsh, said that it was a publicity stunt where Ms Bindra got very close to Ms Banerjee’s body and someone clicked a picture and a video of the same, which went viral. President of Sangharsh, Prithvi Mhaske, said,
“It is a very sensitive issue. On the day Pratyusha died, there were photos and videos on social media with Ms Bindra with Pratyusha’s dead body inside the hospital and in front of the hospital staff. They were used to gain publicity.”
“The police are still investigating whether it is a murder or suicide. So how can Ms Bindra be allowed to take photos and videos inside hospital premises She took pictures while the investigation was still on, which is unethical. Police have said action will be taken if needed. People should be serious about the issue,” he added.
Senior police inspector of Versova police station, Kiran Kale, said, “We have got an application from one person. First, we will inquire about the same with both parties and then decide whether a FIR is needed or not.”
The Asian Age tried contacting Dr Ram Narain, Executive Director, Kokilaben Hospital but he did not reply to any of our messages.
