Palghar’s Shiv Sena MLA not invited for Vasai bridge opening
The Ambadi bridge, popularly known as the Vasai bridge, which connects East and West was thrown open to the public on a rainy Saturday morning but the Shiv Sena boycotted it.
This was because Palghar’s Shiv Sena MLA Amit Ghoda was not invited for the function. While the bridge was thrown open by Vishnu Savara, guardian minister, in the presence of Chintaman Wanga, BJP MP from Palghar, Hitendra Thakur, MLA from Vasai and Vilas Tare, MLA from Boisar, Mr Ghoda was not invited.
A Sena worker said the function looked more like a BJP event than a government function. Ten days ago, the bridge was opened by the public and later shut for vehicles by the MMRDA, citing safety issues.
Locals were waiting for the bridge to be inaugurated by a political bigwig on June 15, but motorists unofficially opened the bridge and barely after an hour it was “inaugurated,” the MMRDA closed the bridge, citing safety issues.
