A rare operation was conducted on a goldfish on Thursday afternoon at a veterinary hospital in Santa Cruz, where it had a tumour removed.
Ms Khushboo Chandela, a Kharghar resident who owns the goldfish, noticed a 1.5-cm-long tumour in the four-year-old goldfish’s tail fin a month ago. She got it treated but the tumour grew again.
Dr Dinesh Vinherker, who operated on the fish said the 45-minute surgery was complicated. “We used a haemostats agent in order to ensure that the fish did not undergo any bleeding while the operation was in progress.”
Ms Chandela, on her part, said, “The fish is doing fine now.” Earlier remain sedentary at the bottom of the aquarium but now it is swimming.
