The Navi Mumbai police on Sunday night managed to retrieve the car that was used by five persons who looted a gold finance company. The police suspects the involvement of employees of the company.

A crime branch team found a white Swift Dzire car that was used by the five accused while stealing gold from the company on Wednesday afternoon. The vehicle was found on the road behind Kalamboli police station. It was parked near a residential area where CCTVs are not present.

Sources said, “The car was parked exactly in front of another gold finance company in Kalamboli. The police interrogated officials of that company but nothing had been stolen from their office. CCTVs were not available in that office either, so the police did not get any footage.”

The sources added: “The police has found two different number plates in the car, both of which are fake. One of them is already in use and belongs to an Activa bike. The car used in the crime was stolen from the Wadala area. It belongs to a businessman who registered an FIR at Wadala police station in May about his stolen car.”

All officials of the Navi Mumbai crime branch are working on the case, but they still haven’t got any clue about the identity of the accused. However, certain points were raised during the investigation that point towards the involvement of company insiders.

The sources said: “Firstly, every Saturday, the gold finance company office closes at 3:30 pm and the accused knew about it as they entered the office at 3:10 pm.

Secondly, three employees have remotes for an alarm alert and only outsiders can hear that alarm, but none of them pressed the remote. Thirdly, they told the police that they can arrange for CCTV footage from Kerala as the server is located there, but at that end, the police did not get any footage of this office. So, there was no footage of this office in the CDs sent from the Kerala office.”

The police is investigating every angle to get to the bottom of the robbery.
