Pvt hospitals to submit dengue records to BMC on daily basis
State Health Minister Dr Deepak Sawant on Wednesday said that records on dengue cases treated in private hospitals must be submitted to BMC’s health department on a daily basis.
Dr Sawant said that a committee called State Investigation Death Committee would be formed that would investigate deaths caused due to ailments like dengue, chikungunya and swine flu and if people were suspicious about the deaths, they should refer such cases to the committee.
“There should be genuine efforts made to curb endemic ailments. We should take the opinion of experts from all over the India to curb rise of malaria, especially in areas of Gadchiroli district,” Dr Sawant said.
“Many a time, deaths due to dengue, chikungunya and swine flu are found suspicious. To detect the exact cause of death, there is need for the committee to find the cause. Tests related to dengue and treatments for this ailment in private hospitals should be reported daily to BMC’s health department which is mandatory,” he said.
This year, the dengue outbreak rate in rural areas was 31 per cent while in urban areas, it was 69 per cent. In October, 5,653 dengue cases were recorded in the state. Within the state, Mumbai had 941; Nashik 775; and Pimpri-Chinchwad 596 dengue cases. Also in October, 5,215 cases of malaria were recorded.
