Gives sequence of events, colour of clothes worn by alleged rapists.
The survivor of the Amboli gangrape has allegedly “identified” all the eight accused in a test identification parade (TIP) conducted by the police. The survivor, in her detailed statement given to the investigators, also gave a sequence of events related to the crime perpetrated on her by them.
The TIP process got over on Monday. In her statement, she informed the police allegedly about the colour of the clothes of each of the perpetrators and even the names of five of them, who had been called out by the accused persons while perpetrating the crime. The Amboli police sources said that the detailed information given by the survivor helped in nabbing the accused and this would tighten the prosecution’s case against them.
During a recent court hearing in the case held in the Andheri metropolitan court, the defence counsel Pradeep Shetty, who represents the eight accused, termed her an alleged “commercial sex worker.” Shetty further alleged the man who was with her during the incident was not her husband. The magistrate, however, said that it has been already established by the police that the survivor is separated from her first husband and the man, who was with her on the day of the incident was her second husband.
In her statement given to the police, which was accessed by The Asian Age, the survivor said, “The first to enter was a young man aged about 20 wearing a white vest who was followed by seven other men. Three of them immediately started beating my husband and restrained him and took him outside the house,” she stated.
The survivor goes on to add that, next, a man wearing a black tee-shirt and blue coloured half pant pinned her down and said, “If you scream, we will kill your husband.” Then the man wearing the white vest pulled her hair and the guy wearing the black tee started undressing and then forcibly removed her leggings. He then raped me.”
Soon after, the man wearing black shirt and white handkerchief tied around his neck raped her and then called out the names, “Mohammed and Rakesh.”
“A man wearing a grey shirt reached the bed and raped her and this was followed by a man wearing a blue shirt aged about 19,” she has stated.
The survivor further stated the man wearing the blue shirt took three names — Pradeep, Zahir and Imran. She adds that the man who had pinned her down, raped her twice.
While the medical tests confirmed “forcible penetration”, the defence counsel alleged, “The complainant runs a prostitution den and routinely rents out the house where the incident happened for her customers. That day too, she was visiting the place with a customer when she alleged that the men raped her,” he said.
