The Pune police on Tuesday busted a high profile prostitution racket and rescued model and actress Arshi Khan, who had shot to fame earlier this year for her alleged claims of being Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi’s girlfriend.

However, soon after Khan was sent to a rescue home, she ran way from there.

The police has arrested the agent who was involved in pushing the model into prostitution. On October 24, the crime branch of Pune police got a tip-off that an agent named Krushna Kafale, who is from Assam, was operating a sex racket at Hotel Arora in Camp, Pune.

To check the veracity of the information, a policeman pretending to be a customer reached the hotel at 12.45 am. Here he gave Rs 16,000 to another agent, identified as Vipul Dahal and also from Assam.

Dahal then took the customer (policeman) to Room No 301 of the hotel where the actress-model was present. The police rescued her and arrested both the agents. The police has invoked section 3, 4 and 5 of The Immoral traffic Prevention Act against the agents.

However, Khan did not gave any statement or reveal any information.

The police said this could be the tip of iceberg and in all likelihood just one of the major high profile sex rackets being run across the city. The police will now investigate other such rackets, it said.

The social security cell of the crime branch after rescuing the model had taken her to the Rescue Foundation for security purpose.

She was kept there since early Tuesday morning. However, after some time she raised a rumpus and started abusing and manhandling the staff there.

She finally managed to run away in the afternoon. The Rescue Foundation has registered a complaint in this regard with the Wanwadi Police Station.
