Aiming to foment trouble for Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan a day after a swayamsevak was hacked to death in Kannur district of the state, the RSS in Mumbai on Thursday took to the social media and launched a scathing attack on the former.

RSS groups across the city around 3 pm on Thursday posted messages on twitter with the hashtag #Pinarayikills. The messages began getting shared by 4 pm and by 7 pm it was trending and had been re-tweeted by more than 7,000 people.

The messages condemned the killing of Kerala-based RSS swayamsevak and BJP leader Ramith in Kannur district on Wednesday morning and slammed Mr Vijayan for maintaining silence over the killing.

“The hashtag is to show our feelings related to Ramith’s killing. It is red terrorism, which is being used against the cadres of the RSS in Kerala. We call it terrorism because it is backed by an ideology,” said senior RSS leader Pramod Bapat.

One of the messages read, “Swargeeya Uthaman, father of the murdered Ramith, is also a victim of Communist Murder politics. He was killed in 2002 when Communist thugs attacked his bus and slayed him on the street just because he was an RSS worker.

“Narayani, mother of murdered Ramith lost her husband early and now the widow lost her young son also. She is left isolated in this world. Govt of Kerala, ruled by Communist Party itself, is keeping silence while this killing politics goes on. Killers are getting bolstered up with this kind of support from the govt and police in Kerala. India should protest against such communist terror in Kerala and government should immediately intervene in this issue so that many lives are saved from communist killers.”

In its messages, RSS also rued that Ramith’s killing didn’t get the kind of news coverage that other terrorism-related news get.

“Every time something happens in Kashmir, the news gets prominence. So, why didn’t the Kerala news too get prominence,” said Mr Bapat.

In one of the messages, references were also given about previous attacks on RSS workers in 1980s and 2002.

The messages specifically attacked Mr Vijayan on his silence over such political killings. Ramith’s death is one of the several political killings that Kerala has witnessed this year.
