Sanjeev Khanna, Peter Mukerjea file bail applications

Sanjeev Khanna, the former husband of Indrani Mukerjea on Wednesday filed a bail plea in the sensational Sheena Bora murder case.

Sanjeev Khanna, the former husband of Indrani Mukerjea on Wednesday filed a bail plea in the sensational Sheena Bora murder case.

Khanna, in his bail application filed through advocate Shreyansh Mithare, has claimed that he has been falsely implicated in the case and there is no evidence against him in the chargesheet and hence he should be granted bail.

Khanna has claimed that the statement of Rahul (the son of media baron and Indrani’s husband Peter Mukerjea) has discrepancies and cannot be relied upon. It is also contended in the bail application that though two persons, including Rahul, has identified him in the identification parade, the procedure was invalid because his photo had already been published in news reports.

His application said, “After reading the chargesheet, the role which is attributed to Khanna cannot be held sufficient to implicate him in the alleged murder.” It also says that it is not the prosecution’s case that Khanna strangulated Sheena. The bail plea has also said that the prosecution has failed to explain what motive Khanna could have had. It said that the prosecution has miserably failed to attribute the motive for the commission of the alleged crimes.

Peter Mukerjea has also filed a bail plea and the court is likely to hear both the applications on January 16.
