Indrani Mukerjea, the prime accused in her daughter Sheena Bora’s murder case on Friday filed a bail application on medical grounds. Her application would be heard after a week, which is also the formal date in the matter.

In the 17-page-application filed before CBI judge H.S. Mahajan, Indrani has claimed that her health is deteriorating and she has lost around 18 kg in the past four months. To prove the seriousness of her medical condition, she has also attached around 50 pages of her medical records.

According to the bail plea filed by advocate Gunjan Mangala, Indrani is suffering from ‘chornic small vessels inchemic changes’ as a result of which the supply of oxygen to her brain may get interrupted anytime which may result in brain stroke and is “life threatening”.

The plea also claimed that she faints at times and thus needs constant monitoring, care and a stress-free environment. It also mentioned that it takes around 45 to 60 minutes to reach nearest hospital from Byculla women’s prison, where Indrani is admitted. Her bail application has also stated that once when she had fallen unconscious around 5am, a doctor examined her only around 11.45am. Also, after examination, it took about an hour for the authorities to shift her to the hospital.

On Thursday, when the CBI moved an application before the court seeking permission to interrogate Indrani, her lawyer had requested the court to direct CBI to question her only after doctors from JJ Hospital agree she is fit to be interrogated.
