Shiv Sena prepares solo run, Aditya reviews wards
Shiv Sena is preparing to contest the upcoming Mumbai civic polls on its own. Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray has already interacted with party workers among all the 227 wards in the city and completed a review of each ward.
According to sources, instead of sharing 100 seats with the BJP — as per the latter’s demand — the party will contest the election on its own.
Shiv Sena cadres have reacted aggressively to BJP MP Kirit Somaiya’s recent statement, which indicated the BJP will break its alliance with the Sena in the BMC polls. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, too, has appealed in the past to party workers to be ready to capture power in the BMC.
Party insiders said a number of party cadres visited Shiv Sena Bhavan on Friday and met party secretary and MP Anil Desai and expressed their concern against the BJP. A source said, “Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray has already completed a review of each and every ward, including meeting with aspirants. He has also taken assessment of each ward through party cadres’ inputs.”
