Teen ‘kidnaps’ girl, arrested
The police has arrested a 16-year-old boy on “kidnapping” charges for eloping with a 16-year-old girl, who he was in love with. The parents of the girl filed a complaint against the boy, following which the boy was arrested and sent to the Dongri correction home. According to the Nirmal Nagar police, the “kidnapping” took place on Friday afternoon at around 1 pm in the Golibar area of Santa Cruz (east). Both, the victim and the accused are residents of Golibar. The accused “kidnapped” the victim from near her residence and took her to an undisclosed location. Meanwhile, their family members started looking for them and finally approached the police. As both of them went missing at the same time, the family members of the girl got suspicious and got into an altercation with the boy’s family. The family members of the girl then registered an FIR under Section 363 (punishment for kidnapping) and 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage, etc) against the boy. Senior police inspector Ashok Borse of Nirmal Nagar police station said, “The boy’s father started looking for him and the two were found a day later on Saturday afternoon. The boy’s father found them near Khar Education Society College in Khar (east). We will question the boy to know where he took her.” “We have arrested the boy and produced him before a magistrate’s court that sent him to police custody for a day. We have sent him to Dongri correction home and will be questioning him in detail to know a few things, including who gave him the idea,” said an investigating official.
