Woman kills self in Malwani
A 24-year-old woman, originally a resident of Kolkata, committed suicide by hanging herself in the Malwani area of Malad on Wednesday. The woman was residing in a one-plus-one Mhada flat in the area for the last 28 days, the police said.
Police officials have recovered a four-page-long suicide note from the woman, in which she has held no one responsible for her suicide. The deceased Heena Gulam Mohammad Gilani was from Jammu & Kashmir, but her family stayed in Kolkata.
Around 28 days ago, Heena rented a Mhada flat in Mawani. Heena was a student of a fashion designing institute in Marol, Andheri, and was dependent on her parents for finance, said an official.
On Wednesday Heena’s land lady noticed that there was no movement in her house although she had not seen Heena going out. She called out to Heena but got no response, after which the she rushed to a nearby building, where distant relatives of Heena lived and informed them.
Later, the relatives reached Heena’s flat and called out to her several times, but after receiving no reply, they broke the door and entered the room, only to find her hanging from the fan with her dupatta. Heena was later rushed to the hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead. “In the note she also stated that she was in depression, but gave no specific reason and held no one responsible for her suicide,” said an official.
The police has seized her mobile and is also verifying her call details to know if there is a love angle to the suicide. According to police officials, other family members of the deceased are also suffering from depression and it seemed to be a family problem.
