I’d love to sing romantic ballads too: Neha Kakkar

One of Bollywood’s most popular party anthem voices, Neha Kakkar, talks about her latest foot-thumper Kar Gayi Chull and more.

Ladki Kar Gayi Chull (Kapoor & Sons) seems like the party song of the year. How was the recording experience

Neha

: The song is extremely peppy and my first for Dharma Productions. It was super fun while recording. Full of energy.

You have worked with Honey Singh and now Badshah. How has it been working with the two rivals Both have their distinct styles and personalities. My relationship with Honey is completely different, since he gave me some of the biggest songs in my career. Badshah treats me like a younger sister. He is amazing to work with.

This is the first time you sang for Alia who has made a foray into playback too Sidharth and Alia are a hit pair on screen. Alia is my personal favourite and I am quite excited to have lent my voice for her in the film. She has done a fabulous job in the video and I really liked her song Samjhavaan. Wishing her good luck for all her future songs.

Party songs are almost synonymous with you now. Do you feel like breaking away from the mould Well, I take it as a compliment. I am an extremely energetic person and my party songs have managed to click with the listeners. I believe in entertaining the audiences with whatever I do. However, I would really love to sing romantic ballads as well.

What else is part of your kitty at the moment I kick-started 2016 with a handful of songs — two songs each in Sanam Re and Luv Shuda. Then there’s my single Car Mein Music Bajaa with my brother Tony Kakkar. And now Kapoor & Sons. There will be many more that will soon be out this year.
