Vaishali Made first entered the spotlight as a finalist in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, were she swept the winner’s crown in both, the Marathi and Hindi segments. Her command over the language made her a natural choice to croon Pinga in Bajirao Mastani. She had also sung for films such as Hunterrr, and performed on stage with Himesh Reshammiya, Bappi Lahiri et al. In a chat with us, she discusses matters musical:

The song on repeat on my iPod these days: Soch Na Sake from Airlift, which has been sung by Arijit Singh.

If I had to put together a “soundtrack” for my life, the five songs on it would be: Pinga (Bajirao Mastani), Agar Tum Saath Ho (Tamasha), Ajeeb Dastaan Hai Yeh (Dil Ek Mandir), Lag Jaa Gale (Woh Kaun Thi), Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan (Roy)

What I listen to when: I’m happy and upbeat: Nagada Sang Dhol Baje from Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela I’m sad or low: Kahan Aake Rukne The Raaste by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan saab I’m working out: DJ wale babu mera gaana baja de!

Music I used to love as a kid or a teenager that I’m now embarrassed by when I think back: All those “welcome songs” we’d sing in our school!

I’d describe my taste in music as: Encompassing that which touches my heart, is divine and pure. That doesn’t mean I only love slow music, I’m a huge fan of the rock genre as well.

My favourite time/way to listen to music during the day: When I’m travelling.

If I could have one band in the world/a musician perform a private concert for me, it would have to be: A.R. Rahman or Shankar Mahadevan

And the one live act I would love to see at least once in my life: Sunidhi Chauhan
