Song on repeat on my iPod: Jeete Hai Chal from Neerja. It is such a motivating song. Whenever I get time off from work, my daily routine, I switch it on, relax, and then get back to whatever I am doing. It is very well written and composed.

If I had to put together a ‘soundtrack’ for my life, the five songs on it would be: Yeh Duniya Agar Mil Bhi Jaaye Toh Kya Hai; Zindagi Ka Safar; Mujhe Mat Roko (Gangster); Jeete Hai Chal and Iktara (Wake Up Sid).

I love songs that have a deep meaning attached. For me, lyrics are very important as they are the best way to express what one is feeling. These songs are the ones that I relate to the most.

What I listen to when: I’m happy and upbeat: Womaniya I’m really low: Zindagi Kaise Yeh Paheli Haaye I’m working out: Any fast-paced number

Music I loved growing up, but am now embarrassed by: There was a Salma Agha song I loved — Zara Zara Tu Pyar Kar, Mere Kareeb Aa. I was very young, so I didn’t understand the lyrics and would keep singing the song!

I’d describe my taste in music as: Something I’m proud of. I really love listening to and also singing soulful songs.

My favourite time of the day/way to listen to music: Whenever I am tired or rehearsing and when I feel like learning something new, I listen to music.

If I could have one band in the world/a musician perform a private concert for me, it would have to be: Elton John and John Mayer!

And the one live act I would love to see at least once in my lifetime: Adele.
