Muhammad Yunus Assures PM Modi Protection of Hindus, Minorities in Bangladesh


New Delhi: Bangladesh government’s interim head Muhammad Yunus assured Prime Minister Narendra Modi protection of Hindus and all minorities in the country.

PM Modi spoke with Muhammad Yunus and extended India’s support for a ”democratic, stable, peaceful and progressive Bangladesh.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister Modi said, Received a telephone call from Professor Muhammad Yunus, @ChiefAdviserGoB. Exchanged views on the prevailing situation. Reiterated India's support for a democratic, stable, peaceful and progressive Bangladesh. He assured protection, safety and security of Hindus and all minorities in Bangladesh.”


Following the fall of Sheik Hasina’s government in Bangladesh, there were reports of violence on Hindu community in the country. Hasina resigned from the Prime Minister post and fled to India on August 5.

On Tuesday, Muhammad Yunus visited Dhakeswari Temple in the capital Dhaka amid the attacks. He condemned the attack on minorities in the country.�

“Rights are equal for everyone. We are all one people with one right. Do not make any distinctions among us. Please, assist us. Exercise patience, and later judge what we were able to do and not. If we fail, then criticise us,” Yunus was quoted as saying by The Daily Star newspaper.
