Mumbai: After the success of his last film 'Bajirao Mastani', Sanjay Leela Bhansali has moved on to another period drama, his next film 'Padmavati'.
While ‘Padmavati’ has been in the news even before its announcement primarily for the casting of Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, the film also made news for the wrong reason when a labourer, Mukesh Dahiya, died while working on the sets about ten days back.
It was reported that a worker’s union Film Studio Setting and Allied Mazdoor Union had planned on issuing a notice to Bhansali to seek compensation for the labourer's family.
And now Bhansali’s production team has provided a compensation of Rs. 20.80 lakh for Dahiya’s family, also promising a job for his pregnant wife at the production house, reported mid-day.
Employees from Bhansali's production house visited the family and issued the cheques on Wednesday.
Dakia's younger brother, Sunil was reported as saying, "Nothing can compensate my brother's loss, but we are glad that Bhansaliji kept his promise. At least, the future of his two sons has been secured. We are thankful to the union for pursuing this with the production house."
Mukesh Dahiya’s colleagues have also contributed Rs. 2. 20 lakh to the family by contributing a day’s salary.
Dahiya was a painter and had fallen on his back from five feet while working on the sets.
