Junior 2: Brit man gives birth to girl

Hayden Cross, 21, becomes first transgender man to give birth in UK.

London: Britain’s first pregnant man Hayden Cross gave birth to Trinity-Leigh Louise Cross at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, on June 16. It makes twenty-one year old, Cross, from Gloucester, the first transgender man to give birth in the UK.

He conceived the child after meeting a sperm donor on Facebook.

“She’s perfect in every way,” Cross told The Sun.

Mr Cross, who was born a girl, revealed he was pregnant in January and said he was halting his transition to a man because he wanted to have a child first. He had chosen not to get his eggs frozen (so he could conceive after his transition) because the NHS would not pay the £4,000 cost.

His grandmother Pam Edgeworth made the announcement of the birth on Friday night and said both of them were doing well. “In September I got pregnant by a sperm donation,” Cross said.

“Having a biological child has always meant a lot to me,” he said earlier this year. “I’ve always wanted kids,” he added.

His daughter was born at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. The birth was registered at Gloucester Register Office on Wednesday, with Mr Cross listed as mother but no father named.

Cross also received death threats after news of his pregnancy broke. He made headlines around the world when he announced he was pregnant by a sperm donor, three years after becoming legally male through gender reassignment.
