ICC Women's World T20: Mithali Raj achieves notable feat as India reach semis
Providence: India women’s cricketer Mithali Raj played a fine knock of 51 runs off 56 balls as she guided her team to 145-6 in their ICC Women’s World T20 Group B match against Ireland.
Her effort was a match-winning one as the spinners starred in restricting Ireland to 93-8 from 20 overs.
With that, the Women in Blue reached the semifinal of the multi-nation tournament.
As a result, the 35-year-old achieved some notable feats as she became the highest run-getter in T20Is among men’s cricketers surpassing New Zealand’s Martin Guptill (2271 runs) . Mithali currently has scored 2283 runs for India in T20Is.
With her 17th T20I fifty on Thursday, she also joined New Zealand’s Suze Bates, Australia’s Alyssa Healy and Pakistan’s Babar Azam in terms of the most 50-plus scores in a calendar year.
