New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern announces she's pregnant

Taking to Instagram, New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern has announced her pregnancy. Arden said that she and her partner Clarke were expecting a new addition to the family in June this year.

Clarke is going to be ‘first man of fishing’ and a stay-at-home dad, while Ardern runs the country while also being a full-time mum.

Taking to Instagram, she wrote, ‘And we thought 2017 was a big year! ‘Clarke and I are really excited that in June our team will expand from two to three, and that we’ll be joining the many parents out there who wear two hats. ‘I’ll be Prime Minister AND a mum, and Clarke will be “first man of fishing” and stay-at-home dad. ‘I think it’s fair to say that this will be a wee one that a village will raise, but we couldn’t be more excited.’

The PM then signed off: ‘Bring on 2018.’ Ardern, 37, became the country’s youngest prime minister since 1856 when she formed her centre-left coalition government in October.

Her Twitter handle was soon flooded with support and congratulatory notes.

One user wrote, ‘Being a working mum just changed forever.’

Another, montrosememories, wrote, ‘Congratulations!!! I’m sure you’ll be equally as great at being a mum as what you are as the Prime Minister!!’

One latoya.info went on to write, “That’s soo awesome. Woman truly can do anything huh.”
