Unique reason why this Bengaluru man won't pay water bills

Shivakumar's system lets his family of four easily use 400 litres of water a day without any issue

Water has always been a basic necessity for everybody but at the same time droughts are unavoidable because of which many people face a lot of issues. A man in Bengaluru however has beaten the odds and hasn’t paid water bills in over two decades because of his sustainable lifestyle.

According to a media report, AR Shivakumar has built a sustainable water harvesting system that gives him more water than he ever requires. The senior scientist at the Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology had designed a system in his house that yields as much as 400 litres a day. The scientist however doesn’t just have enough, he has excess water that would even suffice for his household need if there was a drought.

Shivakumar’s system lets his family of four easily use 400 litres of water a day without issues unlike other people in Bengaluru. The water is obtained through the kitchen sink, washing machine and rooftop into an underground system that recycles the water to be reused.
