Coimbatore: A 'food truck', run by three transgender cooks, will call at city colleges in an initiative aimed at increasing the acceptance of the third gender by society, especially the younger generation.

Christened "Trans Pride", the truck, an initiative by students of a private college, would be on the rounds for a fortnight offering yummy food items prepared by the three transgenders.

Tasneem a social activist with over 15 years of cooking experience, Suchitra, an expert in Indian cuisine and Yamini would prepare items such as sandwiches, frankies, burgers, pakodas, biriyani and juices in the fully equipped truck for sale.

The truck was flagged off by Kumaraguru College of Technology (KCT) Joint Correspondent Shankar Vanavarayar and Rotary Coimbatore Central President N Damodharan on Tuesday.
