Mystic Mantra: The shakti of the Siddhasan

During dhyan, slight heat gets generated in the body that is emitted from the Kundalini.

Yog is a subject of shakti; it is a powerful science and must not be taken lightly. In present times, we have learnt to simplify and distort everything to suit our comfort. If you are not able to do a certain thing, instantly an alternative method is provided for. For instance, if you cannot sit cross-legged on the floor, you can sit on a chair. If you cannot keep your spine straight, you can sit with a hunch, and if you cannot even do that, lie down. Today, the subject of yog has become the very embodiment of such quick-fixes and easy alternatives. You will be disappointed to know though, that there are no shortcuts or cheat codes in yog.

If you want yog, you have to do it as it is. There are certain prerequisites that must be met with for the experience to happen. If your back is bent even slightly, and if your thought wanders even remotely, then dhyan will immediately come to an end, and you will go into a state of sleep. And when you go into sleep, you get to see beautiful dreams…

I have noticed that there are very few people who can sit in Siddhasan. Sitting in Siddhasan is the very first and the most basic step to awaken that shakti inside you. When you sit in Siddhasan, one of your heels is on the moolsthan, closing the Mooladhar chakra and the other on Swadhisthan, closing the Swadhisthan chakra. And both the heels are kept, one atop the other.

During dhyan, slight heat gets generated in the body that is emitted from the Kundalini. This heat can be understood as hunger pangs that are emitted in the form of a series of pulses from the bottom — the Mool chakra (which governs the basics of life — food, drink and good living). If your focus is always on the basics, then it means you are at the level of moolsthan only. So when the heat is emitted, it gets consumed at the Mool chakra itself. It makes you bhramit, creating a desire for an even bigger house, even better food, etc and in the process, the shakti, which you awaken by doing dhyan, gets exhausted at the Mooladhar only. Sometimes, you are able to control the urges of the moolsthan, but then the Swadhisthan, the seat of sexual desires gets fired up and so the remaining heat gets finished there. It cannot go beyond that. It is only when you keep the swadhisthan and moolsthan under control for a long period of time, that the shakti or the heat can rise up, but it still has to cross manipoorak, anahad, vishuddhi and agya. And a prerequisite for this heat to rise through the chakras, is a straight back. Your back is a reflection of the Sushumna nadi, through which the pulses of Kundalini rise from Mooladhar to the Agya. It is only when the pulses rise till the Agya that the experience happens; otherwise it is simply day-dreaming or the subconscious at play.

You can only experience yog when the heat crosses all the levels and reaches the Agya. And that can only happen when your body is straight and still like a stone, affected by nothing — a state of complete balance, where you’re capable of everything. Sanatan Kriya is a potent tool to attain a state of balance in various realms of existence. The one who has control over all of his/her chakras, exudes that control through the glow, stillness and shakti. No disease can touch such a person, and that is the state to start yog.

Yes, sitting in Siddhasan can cause pain, but at that time, if you still don’t move and instead, just remember your guru, that pain will stop after reaching a level, and you will experience nothing after that. Once you have given that pain to yourself, then the pleasures that follow, the anubhutis that happen, do not have a limit. Every pleasure is a new high.
