Chetan Bhagat’s new book, One Indian Girl, has been causing a lot of stir in the social media circuit, not only because this is the first book he writes from a woman’s perspective, but also because being Chetan Bhagat means having just as many trolls as fans.

To measure readers’ reaction to his book, the author recently tweeted the following, with a picture of his book: “#OneIndianGirl in Mykonos, Greece. Send me pics of the book in a beautiful backdrop. Will RT best ones. Let’s see your phone camera skills!”

What ensued was a barrage of responses with pictures of his book against not-so-flattering backdrops! There were many who used this as an opportunity to troll the author by Photoshopping the book’s cover in unlikely settings. While the cover could be found on toilet paper in bathrooms in one picture, there were others with the book being burnt, being sold to scrap dealers — and even one being used as a hat by Arvind Kejriwal!

The author however, took it all in his stride, and tweeted again, asking for better Photoshop skills. He also claimed that he had baited the trolls and in turn profited with free advertising for One Indian Girl.

We’re not sure he saw this coming but amazingly, he could joke about it!
