Man held for firing at nephew
The police on Thursday said that it has arrested a former Armyman for allegedly opening fire at his 24-year-old nephew over a property dispute. A senior police official said the victim, identified as Pawan Kumar, suffered a gunshot and was admitted to the Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon. Bhagat, the victim’s father, told the police that he and Pawan had gone went to Chander Bhan’s house in Baprola village to sort a property dispute. When they reached there, Chander and other family member took them to the roof. “It is alleged that Bhagat and Pawan were abused and then Chander opened fire at Pawan,” the police official said. A case of attempt to murder under the Indian Penal Code and Arms Act was has been lodged at the Ranhola police station. A special team arrested Chander from his house and recovered the 12 bore gun and eight cartridges. Chander said that he and Bhagat claim their right over ancestral property which is a bone of contention.

An ex-employee of a cassette company accused of making calls by impersonating as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was on Friday remanded by a city court to police custody. Krishan Kumar, a former employee at Super Cassettes Industries Limited was produced before chief metropolitan magistrate Lokesh Kumar Sharma, who remanded him to police custody. The company had filed a complaint with police that someone personating himself as PM Manmohan Singh or MP Lalu Prasad Yadav, was making calls for past few months. On Wednesday, the police arrested Kumar after the company suspected his involvement in the matter.
