A day after the Supreme Court’s conditional go-ahead for the BCCI AGM, N. Srinivasan is set to extend his presidential term by another 12 months with a new set of lieutenants. As expected, the Tamil Nadu official’s was the only nomination received for the top post after the deadline ended at 4 pm on Saturday, but the question is whether Mr Srinivasan will be able to take charge after his re-election. Only Monday’s apex court hearing — a petition filed by the Cricket Association of Bihar — will give a clear picture. There will be no contest at the 84th AGM of the board as all the nine posts have received just one nomination each. The only interesting point in the meeting, though, is the post of IPL chairman, for which the BCCI is yet to find a replacement after Rajeev Shukla, who quit in the wake of the spot-fixing scandal. However, Mr Shukla, who has been sorting out board issues with the government, will take over as the vice-president from the Central Zone, replacing Sudhir Dabir, considered to be in Sharad Pawar’s camp.
