One man can’t run govt: Rahul
In an apparent dig at BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said that he believes that one man cannot run the government. “One or two or three people cannot run a government. It is the people who should run the government,” Mr Gandhi said while apparently countering BJP’s projection of Mr Modi as a leader who only can deliver the goods. “There are two schools of thoughts in politics. One fights for the larger interest of the people while the other fights for own interest. My party believes that it is the people who should run the government not an individual,” he said while blowing the bugle for his party in the poll-bound state from the historical Lalbag ground in Bastar district. He said his party’s principal objective was to empower the “aam admi” by vesting power with them. Congress aims at ensuring people in all walks of life enjoyed their rights. “Landmark legislations like Food Security Act, Land acquisition Act, Right to Education Act, brought by the UPA are steps in this direction. We wanted to ensure that no one goes hungry,” he said.

AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday blamed the Raman Singh government for the May 25 massacre of key Congress leaders by Naxals at Jiram Ghati in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar district, while launching the party’s campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections in the state. “The ghastly killing of senior Congress leaders was nothing but a conspiracy to muzzle the voice of people of Chhattisgarh,” Mr Gandhi, who began his speech with the mention of Jiram Ghati incident, observed while addressing a tribal convention organised on the occasion at the Lalbag ground at Jagdalpur in Bastar district. Recalling his interaction with the slain former Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CPCC) president Nand Kumar Patel a few months back, Mr Gandhi said the slain leader was confident of Congress staging a back to power in the state because people of Chhattisgarh desperately wanted a change. “Our leaders were killed simply because they were raising the voice of people of Chhattisgarh,” he said, adding, “I decided to rush to Raipur soon after the incident not only to give moral support to my cadre during the period, but also to revive the hope of the people of the state for a change.” He wondered when the state BJP government could not provide Congress leaders how could it security to common people.
