Coal scam: Supreme Court sets deadline for Centre, CBI on missing files
New Delhi: Criticising Centre and CBI over the probe into coal block allocation scam, Supreme Court asked the investigation agency to submit a report on the missing files in 5 days. The Centre was directed by the top court to give all the files that the agency wants in 2 weeks from receipt of CBI's statement. The court also slammed the Centre on missing files pertaining to coal blocks allocation. The court asked the government why an FIR has not been lodged for missing documents. Pulling up CBI for slow inquiry in the coal block allocations scam, Supreme Court directed the agency to pick up speed. -"You have to pick up speed for concluding the probe against all 169 companies allegedly involved in the scam,-" the top court said. -"Centre must hand over CBI all that the agency needs in two weeks after demand from CBI,-" the bench added. In reply, CBI assured SC that probe would be completed in four-five months.
