Expect Modi US visit this June: NRI panel
A group of businessmen, including some NRIs, were also part of the 18-member American congressional delegation that met Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi on Thursday. NRI businessman Salabh Kumar, a member of “Overseas Friends of BJP”, said he expected Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the US in as early as June. Mr Kumar was instrumental in arranging the delegation’s visit to India. Mr Modi said he was thankful to the members of the US Congress and businesspersons for their kind words on Gujarat development. In his address to the delegation, Mr Modi urged the need for humanitarian forces coming together and fight terrorism along with other challenges of poverty and unemployment. Emphasising on the need to strengthen the democratic processes keeping in mind the larger good of the people, Mr Modi also talked about ideas and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi. In addition to Gujarat, the visiting delegation will visit Bengaluru, Tirupati, New Delhi, Agra, Udaipur, Jaipur and Amritsar. The delegation will meet the Leader of the Opposition in the LS Sushma Swaraj, senior BJP leader L.K. Advani and BJP president Rajnath Singh. Meanwhile, welcoming the development, BJP’s deputy leader in the RS Ravi Shankar Prasad said, “It is a matter of great assurance that even senior US Congressmen are now appreciating the good work of all-round development under Narendra Modi in Gujarat. After the EU and Great Britain, now even American political leaders are lauding his work.”
