Four cases of rape were reported in the city with two women and two minors being the victims. A 41-year-old consultant working with the ministry of water resources was arrested for allegedly raping a 37-year-old woman on the promise of marriage. A senior police official said that the accused was identified as Saurabh Bose. “The victim lives in C.R. Park area of southeast Delhi. She alleged that Bose, who lives in her neighbourhood, developed physical relations with her on the promise of marriage but later refused. On Thursday, when she was passing by his flat, the accused dragged her inside. He held her hostage and raped her,” said the police official. The official said that Bose has confessed his crime. In another incident reported from Adarsh Nagar area where an AC mechanic was arrested for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl. The victim, a native of Assam, works as a domestic help. The accused, identified as Shahzad, lives in her neighbourhood. On Thursday, the victim narrated the whole incident to her employer who took her to the police station. Her medical examination confirmed rape and a case was lodged. “Shahzad was arrested from his house and was sent to jail,” said the police official. In the third incident, a businessman was arrested for allegedly raping his 30-year-old sister-in-law in Jahangirpuri, northwest Delhi, after offering her a spiked cold drink. “The accused has been identified as Nand Kishore. His sister-in-law has alleged that when she went to meet him at his house, the accused offered her a cold drink laced with sedatives and raped her when she fell unconscious. He also threatened her not to reveal the incident to anyone or to face dire consequence. On Thursday, the victim lodged an FIR in this respect after which the accused was arrested,” said the police official. The fourth incident was reported from Nangloi area where a man was arrested for raping a minor girl. The accused, identified as Lalit Gulia, was arrested on Thursday, the police said.
