Police gets robber after shootout, recovers cash
An armed robber was nabbed while two of his accomplice managed to escape after a shootout with the police team chasing them. The shootout took place at Alipur traffic signal. The assailants were fleeing on a motorcycle after robbing a businessman in Bakhtawarpur area. The Delhi police received a call of robbery and chased the assailants almost 20 kilometres and nabbed one of them. A senior police official said that the arrested man has been identified as Praveen, alias Sonu, a resident of Haryana. “A businessman-cum-owner of a poultry farm was robbed by them at gunpoint. The victim made a PCR call informing that the accused snatched his bag containing several lakhs. A police team chased them and asked them to stop but they tried to speed away. The accused stopped their motorcycle near Alipur traffic signal and opened fire at the policemen who launched a counter attack and one assailant was nabbed,” said the police official. The official said that the bag containing the cash was recovered from the spot. A manhunt has been launched to nab the criminals who managed to flee. Four shootouts have taken place between the police and criminals in recent past and all of them have occurred in the outer district.
