MCD staffer shot dead
A 45-year-old MCD employee was shot dead by unidentified assailant in Seemapuri area of east Delhi. A senior police official said the incident took place at Seemapuri roundabout at around 7 am. The deceased, identified as Manoj, lived in G Block with his family. “On Thursday morning, Manoj left for office at around 6.30 am. On his way to the bus stand he met his colleague Soni who was also heading towards the bus stand. When they reached near the roundabout, an armed man opened fire at Manoj,” said the police official. Manoj was hit by a bullet but he still managed to catch hold of the assailant. He shouted for help but the accused pumped another bullet in Manoj’s head from point blank range. Manoj fell on the road while the accused fled from the scene. He was rushed to the GTB Hospital where he was declared brought dead. A police source said the victim was receiving threat calls from an unknown person. the police is questioning his colleague Soni, who was accompanying him at the time of incident. Manoj, a Class IV MCD employee, is survived by his widow, two sons and a daughter who is married.
