Hyderabad: The YSR Congress MLAs suddenly changed their strategy on resignations and demanded the government to convene the Assembly and table the resolution seeking united state. The YSRC MLAs on Wednesday night decided to meet Speaker Nadendla Manohar on Thursday to accept their resignations. But the YSRC’s decision on resignations came under criticism as it will help pass the Telangana resolution, in the Assembly, as the strength of Seemandhra MLAs will come down. In a meeting chaired by party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday, the party has taken a decision not to press for acceptance of the resigned MLAs. They also have taken a decision to meet the Governor and the Speaker requesting them immediately to convene the Assembly to pass a resolution on unified state and send it to the Centre. The Governor, ESL Narasimhan, gave the appointment to YSRC on September 30 at 4 pm on a request made by the YSRC leaders. Meanwhile, YSRC honorary president Y.S. Vijayalakshmi wrote a letter to Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy demanding to convene the state Assembly session to discuss and pass a resolution to keep the state united, before the Union Cabinet note is prepared. She mentioned in her letter that in respect of formation of three states Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Uttarakhand the Union government insisted that unless resolutions are passed in respective state Assemblies, the process for formation of new states would not begin. YSRC MLAs, speaking to reporters on Thursday at the party office, demanded the state government to convene the Assembly to pass a resolution on united state. YSRC deputy floor leader in the Assembly Shobha Nagireddy said that their party president Jagan will apprise the Governor about their party stand and the need to convene the Assembly and move the resolution to keep the state united which will bring to the fore the stand of all political parties. Jagan seeks relaxation Three days after his release on bail in the quid pro quo case, YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday approached the special court to grant him relaxation to leave Hyderabad. Reddy filed a petition with the special court for CBI cases, Nampally, and sought relaxation for visiting Idupulapaya, Pulivendula and Guntur. The court posted the matter to Friday.
