Time and again, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has expressed his admiration for the Indian culture and his week-long visit to India along with his family was no different. The family’s coordinated sartorial choices managed to turn a lot of heads.
For his visit to the Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmadabad, the Trudeau family donned colour-coordinated desi attire. Ditching his crisp suits, the Canadian prime minister opted for a bright red kurta and ivory churidaar.
His wife Sophie Gregoire Trudeau chose a sunny yellow kurta-sharara ensemble. Even the children, Hadrien, Xavier and Ella-Grace also kitted out in traditional Indian clothes.
At a dinner with Bollywood actors, including the likes of Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan, Trudeau decided to go Indian and quite festive. The leader wore heavily embroidered beige and red bandhgala with a gold stole.
His wife looked stunning in a beautiful ivory and silver saree and elaborate jewellery. His elder son Xavier chose to go with a royal blue kurta with a gold churidar, while daughter Ella-Grace looked lovely in a cheery yellow dress with a magenta tulle hem.
Giving sartorial statement equal importance as diplomatic statement, Trudeau wore an off-white bandhgala kurta for his visit to the Golden Temple in Amritsar. Sophie went with a beautiful sky blue kurta paired with white palazzo pants.
However, during their trip to Jama Masjid and Sacred Heart Church, the Trudeaus decided to keep it simple. The prime minister and his children were dressed in formal cream-coloured shirts. Sophie Gregoire Trudeau wore a bright-yellow maxi-dress printed with orange flowers. She used a pale-yellow dupatta to cover her head.
When the family went for a picturesque moment in front of the Taj Mahal, the Canadian Prime Minister looked extremely handsome in a blue plaid coat. He teamed it with an ice blue shirt and tan pants.
Sophie chose to wear a flowy floral printed dress in powder blue. She kept it easy in the accessory department and went minimal with the make-up too. Even the kids were also seen in more-or-less coordinated colours.
The moment Justin Trudeau stepped on the Indian soil, he donned a royal and classy look. The leader wore a two-button grey suit with a signature red maple leaf lapel pin and a white formal shirt—contrasting with his white and red polka-dotted tie. Completing the ensemble were a pair of tan brown Oxford shoes.
