Sheila appeases all and sundry
Presenting her 15th budget on Wednesday, chief minister Sheila Dikshit announced many schemes for the “vulnerable sections” of the society. She announced a new Delhi Swawalamban Yojana (DSY) in the budget for year 20013-14. The city government will provide '1,000 per person apart from Centre’s help under this co-contributory scheme to the families with annual income less than '12,000. For the first time ever in Delhi, the chief minister announced financial support to the transgender community. The government will give '1,000 to the transgenders living in the city since last three years. The government has also brought them under the Delhi Annashree Yojana. The pension for senior citizens (not belonging to SC/ST/minority communities) has been enhanced from '1,000 to '1,500 per month. Apart from this, the differently-abled and women in distress will also get '1,500 monthly financial help. For the scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and minorities, the city government will provide '5 lakhs loan under Delhi Swarojgar Yojana. The government has also enhanced the annual grant to Haj pilgrims from '1,000 crores to '2,000 crore. The government has decided to spent '5 crore for the welfare of journalists. The budget for social security and welfare sectors has been enhanced from '1,737 crores to '1,878 crores. The RWAs running recreational facility for public on no-profit-no-loss basis will get '1 lakh yearly. The government also announced construction of nine new hospitals, seven new dispensaries and Tobacco Cessation Clinics in all districts.
