A London court has rejected the appeal of Mr Ravi Shankaran, a key accused in the naval war room leak case, against his extradition to India. The extradition court (London) has now sent Mr Shankaran’s case to the British secretary of state to decide on his extradition. Sources in the CBI said the secretary of state would soon approve the extradition. The agency is planning to send a team to the UK to bring him back once all legal formalities in that country have been completed. Sources maintained that the court there had been given an assurance that Mr Shankaran’s bail plea would not be opposed in court in India. Shankaran, a relative of a former Navy Chief, had listed denial of bail in India among the reasons for opposing his extradition to India, sources added. Mr Shankaran was arrested by the Metropolitan police in London on April 21, 2010.
