Lalu: Will make Bihar shine like railways

Vowing to make Bihar shine as brightly as he made Indian Railways shine when he was a Union minister, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Wednesday urged the state’s people to vote for his party in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls and the Assembly polls in 2015. In a strident barrage of attacks on the Nitish Kumar-led JD(U)-BJP government as a failure on all fronts, Mr Yadav appealed to Bihar’s people to repose their faith in the RJD once again and banish the state’s “corrupt and communal” government. Addressing a large crowd in the southern town of Nawada, Mr Yadav punctuated his speech with heavy doses of his trademark sarcasm and political diatribes. “The Nitish government is already crumbling. I do not want President’s Rule. I want Bihar’s people to push this government out in the polls. I assure you that when I return to power I will make Bihar shine just like I made Indian Railways shine all over the world,” said Mr Yadav. Recalling the humiliation he faced in Delhi for the RJD winning just four MPs in the 2009 LS polls, Mr Yadav told the cheering crowd that “only four shoulders are required to carry a funeral pyre”.
