This little gem had us in splits. A leading foreign news website recently published an item about an Afghani actress fearing for her life after acting in a Bollywood film. The snippet of information had us agog: Who could this actress, Gihana Khan, be And which scandalous B’wood film was she risking life and limb to act in The answer was Mumbai Mirror. The second “cinematic outing” of Sachiin Joshi (the first was Aazaan — don’t castigate yourself if you don’t remember it), it has been promoted off ans on by the film’s team organising “flash mobs” and suchlike in Mumbai. The report we’re referring to called the film “what could be her (Gihana’s) big break” and counted as an advantage that “she shares her last name with some of India’s biggest superstars”. It also mentioned that while Gihana hasn’t received any threats from back home in Afghanistan yet, she anticipates them. Hmm, perhaps Ms Khan might be reassured if she knew the chances of a lot of people, even in India, watching the movie, are as slim as her waist
